Winnie Eley joins University of Southampton on 1st October 2018, after five years as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Advancement) at The University of Newcastle in Australia.
At University of Southampton, Winnie is a member of the University Executive. She provides institutional-wide leadership for the delivery of aspects of the University’s strategy relating to international activity. University of Southampton is a founding member of the Russell Group in the UK and the global alliance – World Universities Network (WUN). It has campuses located in Southampton, Winchester and Johor in Malaysia. University of Southampton is ranked in the top 100 in the world (QS WUR 2019).
Winnie has over two decades of accumulated knowledge and skills in devising strategy and developing whole-institution approach and associated systems in alumni relations and philanthropy; global engagement and representation; international education; institutional partnerships and reputation; and student mobility. She has extensive experience in leading and developing leaders and high performing teams, and has oversight of a range of diverse portfolios from scholarships (Chevening, Ford Foundation, Scholarships for Excellence and Ma and Morley Scholarships Program), science, creative industries, customer and information services, transnational education, marketing and communications, to high level policy collaborations.
